UCTF is very pleased to announce that two of our members, Jonathan Ssebanja and Henry Ssenyondo, have been starring on the international cricket stage!
In April and May of this year, the Uganda national team competed in the 2013 ICC World Cricket League Division Three Playoffs. The competition took place in Bermuda, and was made up of six teams: Uganda, Nepal, Oman, Italy, USA, and Bermuda. Uganda finished second overall, earning themselves promotion to Division Two of the international cricket league, and a chance to qualify for the World Cup next year.
We are extremely proud of both of our boys for making the squad, but particular recognition must go to Henry Ssenyondo for his outstanding performances during the tournament. Henry is a left-arm spinner, and over five games, he took nine wickets at an average of just 8.88. This made him Uganda's second highest wicket-taker in the competition - and all while taking a two week break from studying for his Diploma in Forwarding and Clearing! If Henry continues to find time to develop his game, he will surely become a stalwart competitor for both Uganda and UCTF CC.
