We are delighted to welcome two volunteers to the UCTF team in Kampala. Olivia Hole and Henry Taylour will be staying with us until mid-December, and both will be contributing extensively to our work.
Olivia is a trainee solicitor who is taking up a contract with a London-based firm in the new year. In the meantime, she will be running a careers and IT programme for all UCTF members in tertiary education. She will conduct one-on-one sessions with each of these members, cementing their IT skills, counselling them about potential jobs, introducing basic interview techniques, and working with them to create effective CVs. Olivia is helping our members bridge the gap between education and work - finishing off the foundations that will hopefully allow them to succeed in Uganda’s economy.
Henry is a recent graduate from Nottingham University, and a qualified tennis coach. He will be working at our partner primary school in Kampala, Naguru Infant, as a teaching assistant. His focus is to provide kids (UCTF members or otherwise) with much-needed individual attention, particularly in English and Maths. In the afternoons, Henry will also be running a tennis coaching programme for children from the local slum areas.
We are always very happy to have volunteers with the skills to add to our programme. If you or someone you know might be able to help us, please let get in touch via the ‘Contact Us’ section of this website.
