My name is Wambisha Joel and I am 20 years old. I live in Mbale district and I am a Ugandan citizen. I went to Fairway Primary School where I sat for Primary Leaving Exams (PLE) and emerged the top student in 2005.
I then joined Nabumali High School but studied for only one term since my parents had insufficient funds to clear dues. Consequently I stayed at home during the second term. But during this time I started playing tennis at Mbale Sports Club where tennis courts had been refurbished by UCTF.
I interacted with the UCTF officials who gave me a golden opportunity to become a beneficiary of UCTF in 2006 at the age of 12. In the new school I joined, school dues were cleared on time until I sat for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and emerged the best student in my school at O-Level.
While in school I attended tennis lessons and became the best player among the junior tennis players in Mbale. Equipment and coaching were provided to me by UCTF. This gave me an opportunity to join the national team and participate in the different ITF tennis tournaments around East Africa, like the African Junior Championship (AJC).
I joined Makerere College School for my A-Level studies under UCTF sponsorship. I sat for the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) in 2012 and emerged one of the top students in Uganda. During the vacation I have been teaching mathematics and physics at local secondary schools in Mbale. I was awarded government sponsorship to study Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Kyambogo University.
I hope to excel and bring the engineering community in Uganda to a dynamic level of competence and innovation.
Lastly I express my gratitude towards U.C.T.F. for the undeserved kindness shown to me and thanks to all our dear trustees and donors for your continued support.
